In order to participate in a Royal British Legion cycle ride, you must agree to the following conditions. Please read this page carefully it contains important information.
In return for a place on The Royal British Legion’s bike rides, participants need to pay an entry fee. A deposit of £100 is due immediately with the completed application form. A further balance payment (£400) is due no later than eight weeks prior to the ride (Friday 10 July).
Participants must also commit to raising a minimum amount of sponsorship money (£800). This can be paid to The Royal British Legion at any point prior to the ride, but must be received no later than eight weeks after the last day of the event. Failure to meet the minimum sponsorship amount may affect our decision to allow participants to do the ride again in subsequent years.
Failure to submit the balance of the entry eight weeks prior to the event may result in the participant forfeiting their place on the ride.
Participants must be aged 18 or over at the commencement of the ride to be eligible. Riders between the ages of 16-18 may only take part if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Should participants have to drop out of the ride, the £100 deposit is completely non-refundable. If the balance has been paid and participants drop out 6 weeks or more prior to the ride, we will refund 50% of the balance. If participants drop out between 4 and 6 weeks before the ride, we will refund 25% of the balance. If participants drop out less than 4 weeks before the ride, we will not refund the balance paid, but the participant’s travel insurance should cover it.
Should participants not be able to take up their place on the ride, all donations or sponsorship already paid to The Royal British Legion will not be refunded to the participants. Money may only be refunded directly to the donor on written request.
Unless a single room supplement is paid for at the time of application, accommodation will be on a shared basis. A rider will only be placed in a shared room with another person of the same sex. Should participants wish to share with someone in particular, we will endeavour to meet their wishes but cannot guarantee this.
All funds raised in the name of The Royal British Legion must be paid as soon as is practical, but no later than eight weeks after the last day of the event (see point 2 above). Cheques should be made payable to “The Royal British Legion” and sent to:
